What is Shell’s e-mobility offer?
Shell, along with NewMotion (a member of the Shell Group), offer fleet’s the opportunity to charge on-the-go, at home and at the office. The new Shell Card allows your fleet to refuel with traditional fuels and recharge electric vehicles (EVs) across a nationwide network, whilst on the road. With NewMotion’s smart-charging technology, fleets can turn office locations, and their employees driveways, into charging locations.

Can I use my existing Shell Card for EV charging?
No. New cards are needed as they contain RFID technology that enables EV charging (on top of existing services).

What EV networks can my fleet of Shell Card users access?
Fleets can now charge using almost 8,000 charge points. This includes the Shell Recharge network and the ever-developing third-party network that includes NewMotion, Ubitricity, Chargepoint Inc., Engenie and Ionity and many more. Read our charging on-the-go page for more information.

What is the Shell Recharge App and functionality?
The Shell Recharge app allows users to find public charge points all over the UK that are within the Shell Recharge and NewMotion networks. The app provides tariffs, availability and charging speed. Users can also flag and receive updates on the status of charge points e.g. when your favourite charge point is available again. You can also start, stop and pay for charge sessions directly with the app on a large number of charge points*.

What are your home and business charging offers?
Together with NewMotion, we can transform offices or homes into a smart-charging location. Our home and office charging offer comes with complete installation of up to 22kW posts suitable for all types of electric cars and 24/7 support for fleets. Fleet Managers also get access to ‘myNewMotion’, an online charge point management platform. It provides visibility of charging data and gives the ability to set charge points fees, reimburse employees for home charging costs and more. Charges on home and office charge points also appear in your usual Shell Card invoices, along with all other Shell Card transactions. Additionally, at business locations, fleets can make use of Dynamic Power Management that enables power from the grid to be dynamically distributed across business activities and EV charging infrastructure.

What incentives are available for fleets like mine that looking to install chargers at the office, or at employee homes?
In the UK, business can apply for 2 OZEV grants that helps to reduce the costs of installing EV infrastructure; the home charge point grant (EVHS) and the workplace charge point grant (WCS).
The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) contributes 75% of the cost of home charge point installation, capped at £350 (incl. VAT)1,2.
The Workplace Charging Scheme, reduces purchase and installation cost related to workplace charging. For up to 40 charge points, businesses can receive £350 per socket, offering a potential cost saving of up to £14,0003.
In Scotland, these grants are covered by the Energy Savings Trust through their home and business charging points support.

My employee's home energy costs will increase. How can they recoup the cost of charging at home?
